Liberty Duck (D31-93)

Give me your tired, your poor, your rubber duckies....

Created by Craig for Oneonta’s Ellis Island on October 29, 2009.

The Ellis Island theme of this cache is fitting once you figure out where the cache is and what the owner is talking about.  The first time, Craig tried to find this cache on his own and failed miserably.

Lesson 1: Don’t rely on your GPS.  Use your Geosense.
(Addendum: Cheryl has better Geo-Sense.)

The second time, Craig brought Cheryl but they had to abort due to the muggle watching their every move.

Lesson 2: Always look around for muggles.
(Addendum: LOOK UP!)

The third time, Craig spotted the cache location instantly.
Apparently, he had gone up a few levels in his geocaching since the first attempt.

The view from this spot is one of the best in Oneonta.  Unfortunately, Liberty Duck didn’t get to see very much of it.  (Sometimes the duckies have to “squish” to fit in the cache.)

You call this "Liberty"?

Liberty Duck was attained by GPS Barb on November 15, 2009.

On November 26, 2009, GPS Barb spread Liberty Duck to California (to Backpack Camp, specifically.)
